![]() That philosophy is also reflected in the race's experience and veterancy system. Fallen units are cheap and designed to be produced in large numbers that can be thrown into combat without worrying about unit losses. Even their spell casters (derived from a mid-campaign alliance with the underground Dark Elves) tend to focus on the offensive, eschewing the ability to heal save when a unit is in the general vicinity of a Fallen base. Offensively, the Fallen units are the strongest in the game - not only in terms of sheer combat power, but also in the nasty and underhanded tricks they pull, including launching powerful and deadly poisons. Fallen units are designed simply to kill. In terms of strategic feel, a brief glance at any of the Fallen units quickly indicates what their functionality is. The mask comes off fairly quickly, though, as the Fallen infiltrator tricks the Empire into opening up the dimensional locks that keep the Fallen creatures from overrunning Exigo. Their big Kahuna actually begins the game as a leader of the Empire, a powerful figure on the Council of Wizards. (If it ain't broke, don't fix it, I suppose.) The Fallen are the prime movers behind Armies of Exigo's storyline. In the game, Fallen bases can only be built on "corrupted" ground, said "corruption" almost exactly mimicking the gameplay of the Zerg's "creep." Fallen buildings are also summoned by worker units who can then walk away while the summoning continues, precisely the way Starcraft's Protoss work. Unfortunately, the Empire does have a strategic weakness - their peasants can't defend themselves, meaning that all the Empire's defensive power will definitely be needed to keep their logistical jugular vein from being severed.įinally, and saving the best for last, the Fallen just look and feel pretty cool, although they're certain to come in for some criticism because of the way their build functionality tends to ape the Protoss and the Zerg from Starcraft. The Empire, which is made up of human, elves and other races from the "light" side of fantasy, place a heavier reliance on healing (which comes from priest units), unit buffs and "artillery support" that comes from the wide variety of area-effect magic available to Empire spell-casters. The Empire is the most "traditional" of the three armies available in the game, regulating population caps with houses and blessed with the ability to create secure bases that will definitely necessitate a player's use of the underground levels of the map. ![]() The Little Mermaid, directed by Rob Marshall, opens in theaters nationwide on May 26, 2023.The Empire, on the other hand, with their many, many, tank-like units and predilection for defensive and protective structures, are the obvious choice for players who like to go for quality over quantity. ![]() She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy.
